HIT & RUN at Lower Barn Saturday 17 April
Posted 17.04.2010, 20:49 by Bluetiger
Announcements Hi guys

I know this is a long shot but myself and a group of friends were up at the lower barn this afternoon and when I returned to my bike (a blue ZX6R Ninja) I was told that a taxi had reversed into it, stood it back up with the help of another biker who I believe was there with his daughter and left.

I've come back to a bike that now has all the lower fairing scratched, dented exhaust, bust mirror and scraped bar end. If that's not bad enough I was extremely lucky to be able to get home before the front brake lever sheared off!!!

Unfortunately the witnesses (the bikers daughter) who kindly wrote the registration down didn't get the make or model of the car (the paint on my fairing suggests red or brown) and the registration has not been recognised by the Police.

I wonder if anyone saw it or remembers seeing the taxi?? Any help would be massively appreciated! I'm guessing it happened about 4pm.

I will be phoning the Barn tomorrow to see if they have any cameras but other than that it looks as though he gets away with it while I end up with the repair bill and a bike I can't use again till I get a new lever.

Thanks

PM Spamming
Posted 04.01.2010, 20:29 by Colin
Security We had a problem last night with someone who joined then decided to spam everyone via PM. I've banned the user & the ip address so they shouldn't be back. Don't worry it's not a virus or anything like that just someone trying to spam the forum, I've deleted a lot of them so some of you may go to your in-box and see nothing there. Please don't PM me telling me you got one as it just stops me sorting the problem out.

Announcements As some of you have already noticed we now have 2 new moderators & a new section! Caz has been a valued member of the forum for years & I think she'll do a great job of moderating her own ladies section, she's now been joined by Kim who will co-moderate with her.
I think this new section is just what this forum has been missing and hope you'll all welcome Caz & Kim as our new mods.

Drivers face fines for expired licences
Posted 13.09.2008, 04:00 by Colin
Announcements A massive 300,000 photo card licences are due to expire in the next 12 months, yet a significant proportion of drivers are unaware that the new photo-style licences require updating every 10 years.

Unlike the superseded paper licence, which was valid 'for life', the new identity card versions feature a 'valid until' date, at which time motorists must shell out an extra £17.50 for a new card. It's thought that a lot of drivers are not aware of this requirement.

This summer marked the 10th anniversary of the introduction of the new photo card licence and of the cards due for update a massive 28% are still outstanding, according to the DVLA. These drivers could face a £1,000 fine if asked to surrender the licence.

Though the expiry date is printed on the front of the photo cards, it can only be identified as such when the owner turns the card over and reads the small print.

Making matters more confusing is the presence on the back of the cards of a date until which time the motorists is registered to hold the licence - their 70th birthday.

According to the DVLA, reminders will now be sent to drivers with photo cards due to expire, while the Association of British Insurers has confirmed that insurance cover is unaffected by an expired photo card.
